Sometimes when I am
where I am supposed to belong,
I don't feel like I belong.
But when I am standing,
I know that I belong somewhere
between the surface of the earth
and the top of my head.

I’ve asked several artists to consider their belongings and also the illusive sense of belonging. I’ve given each a yard of muslin, a tiny mirror, and a small handmade book to use or not use. This blog will also be a place to explore these concepts. The works we create will be on display at the L.A. Municipal Art Gallery in Actions, Conversations, and Intersections, curated by Edith Abeyta and Michael Lewis Miller, January 28 – April 18, 2010.
